I love our little balcony garden which my dear Konstantinos makes sure is looking perfect at all times!   I also like that I can use some of the herbs in the food that I am cooking. Nothing taste better than fresh herbs!

I had a nice Monday and a good start of the week. After work I went straight to the gym, like I do most of the days the past weeks. I focused mainly on the arms today and some cardio, and of course some squats and sit-ups!  For dinner I made fish that my father gave us some months ago (kept in the freezer of course..) . Fish is something we eat much of in Norway!  I am not a huge fan of Norwegian food with boiled potatoes and boiled vegetables, but from time to time it is a nice break from the salads and fried vegetables.

I hope you had a nice Monday! And also had a good and healthy day!

Sunday-hiking in the forest

Another weekend came and left (OK it is not really over yet) too fast. After a long week of working and going to the gym I really do enjoy to have weekend (like everyone else I assume). This weekend started with the meatballs I made on Friday evening (the recipe is already posted here)  and yesterday I tried to make a lighter version of lasagna. Unfortunately the shops here do not sell wholegrain lasagna (why is that??) so I made the normal lasagna. I also made the sauce of low fat milk. The food was very good but not exactly what I would call low on the calories. Not only that – but my sweet Konstantinos had chocolate cravings, so I looked through the closets and found ingredients to make chocolate fondant (so you can say that it was not the optimal diet weekend!).

Today we found ourselves in the forest again. I am lucky to live that close that we can walk for 15 minutes and be inside the forest. I assume we walked around 5-7 kilometers today, so not the longest route. I was not really in the mood for walking for hours. As you can see from the pictures it is a lovely and sunny Norwegian summer day here in Oslo, Norway. Now I will enjoy my last hours of the Sunday before Monday comes again (it is 6.30 pm here).

Hope you had a nice Sunday!!

A typically weekend in Norway

Lake in Oslo, Norway

Lake in Oslo, Norway

As a Norwegian I grew up hiking in the forests and climbing mountains (an obvious reason for that is because Norway is full of mountains and covered by forests). I was not born a city girl (even though I am living in the capital of Norway now) and I did not have to go very far to find the most unbelievable nature scenes you can imagine.

So on a typical weekend here I go with my boyfriend for walks in the forest and enjoy to combine a nice walk and exercise at the same.

And to finish a tour, Norwegian style, we barbecue some chicken fillets, pork chops or turkey. And of course we always bring some additional side dishes, like a fresh salad. You do not even need a recipe for that!
